Transforming IRS for a Digital World

IRS commissioner Danny Werfel shared his vision for a modern and accessible IRS during a recent talk at the Kogod School of Business. Marking his one-year anniversary, he noted that the IRS stands at a historic crossroads.

He called the modernization of the IRS a once in a generation opportunity to catch up with the modern economy. “When your bank is concerned about fraud, it will text you and let you sort it out instantly from your smartphone. But when the IRS thinks there’s fraud, we send you a letter. We’re working to change that and transform to be ready for the new digital economy.” Read more here.
