IRS to Begin Accepting 2023 Individual Tax Returns on January 29

IRS will begin accepting 2023 individual tax returns at 6:00 am, Pacific on Monday, January 29. The deadline to submit 2023 tax returns or an extension to file and pay tax owed is April 15. The deadline for extension filers is October 15.
 
IRS Commissioner Danny Werfel noted that there will be significant improvements during this filing season, including increased help on the toll-free line and an expanded customer call back feature designed to reduce wait times. Learn more here.
